WHY MILLSTONE?
The ‘Millstone’ is an important symbol to Andrea, as it is the name of the street where she grew up. Also, the large stone is heavy to move, therefore support and help are required to change its current state. Once the stone gets moving, a new product is formed as result of the hard work. Andrea sees this as the whole team supporting the child’s needs to improve in their everyday life.

Andrea loves to create sessions that capture the child’s personality and interests to improve engagement and participation. Each child is unique despite having similar diagnoses and/or characteristics and are seen as an individual, allowing sessions to focus on their strengths and challenges they are faced with.
Providing services within the child’s environment is important to encourage involvement and positive feedback. Andrea believes working as a team with anyone in the child’s care (parents, caregivers, teachers, and other health care professionals) is the key to success and ensure the child’s needs are met!
Andrea has always been driven to provide the best care and services possible. She started Millstone Therapy Group because of her passion to help others and wanted to extend her services into more areas within Virginia.
While in graduate school, Andrea served twice in Guatemala City, Guatemala providing OT services and helped create a children’s sensory and emotional regulation room for the community being served, while implementing training to the providers and staff. This project was published and a poster presentation was delivered at the Texas Occupational Therapy Association Annual Conference in 2018.
When Andrea is not treating, she is spending time with her husband, their beautiful little girl, 2 dogs and cat. She loves paint-by-numbers, cooking, watching movies, listening to audio books, and being outside as much as possible. Andrea is a West Virginia mountain girl but the beach, lake, and sunshine will always be calling her name!
